School Group Excursion

The Melbourne street art movement is arguably the most important Australian art movement since the Indigenous movement that gained momentum some 35 years ago. It has infiltrated all aspects of current popular culture, from advertising and fashion to fine art and sociology. Love it or hate it, the depths to which street art has penetrated Australian popular culture means that its importance is undeniable. Street art has begun moving from the streets into art galleries, with a survey exhibition being held at the National Gallery of Australia in October this year.

It is important to educate the young. The awesome thing about street art is that young people love to learn about it. It's so visual and exciting, it captures their imagination and attention, more than nearly anything else. It is clear street art is important. This is why Melbourne Street Art Tours have joined forces to offer street art tours designed specifically for school groups.

Each tour will be led by a famous local street artist. Students will have a chance to visit Melbourne's laneways and its art, as well as the famous Blender Studios.
